Anti-angiogenesis medications are a non-invasive treatments for macular degeneration. These drugs help prevent the further growth of abnormal blood vessels. One of the newest procedures being used is called macular translocation. This is preformed with abnormal blood vessels are directly under the center of the macula. Blood vessels that are in this location can not be subjected to a regular laser beam safely because of the potential for scar tissue, which would create more damage. Macular translocation is one of the many treatments that are being created and perfected so that the different stages and different levels of ARMD may have more than one macular degeneration treatment.
